Questions Families Ask Us

How do I become a member?

Two existing members need to personally recommend you before you can join. Submit an application naming two members you know, they each confirm they vouch for you, and an administrator gives final approval before your account is activated.

Do I always need a guarantor?

Yes, without exception. Every loan request requires a guarantor, and the system will not allow disbursement until that guarantor has formally approved the request.

Do I need collateral to borrow?

No. FamilySave Initiative never requires collateral, at any loan size. Your borrowing limit and rate are set entirely by your credit tier — built by clearing loans on time, not by pledging assets.

How much can I borrow as a new member?

First-time borrowers can request up to the equivalent of UGX 500,000. That cap applies no matter which currency you borrow in — we convert it at the live rate so the limit is always fair and consistent.

How do I get a higher borrowing limit?

Two ways. Max out your current limit in a single loan, cleared, repeated the required number of times (1 for New, 4 for Bronze, 5 for Silver, 10 for Gold) and you're advanced automatically. Or, borrow smaller amounts and let them add up — once your total borrowed-and-cleared volume reaches the same overall threshold, you're notified that you qualify and can claim the upgrade yourself. First-time borrowers also need at least 6 cleared loans before leaving New, either way, so a track record actually gets built before the limit jumps.

Can I borrow in a currency other than UGX?

Yes. Pick any supported currency when you apply. Your loan, its repayments, and your receipts will all be tracked in that same currency, converted internally using live exchange rates for risk and liquidity reporting.

What happens if the guarantor declines?

The request is closed immediately, the guarantor is released, and you're free to submit a new application with a different guarantor.
